We are currently on a retreat in California. Its one of our favorite things to do. We usually stay in north San Diego county of southern Orange county. We purchased tickets to hear Marcus Lutrell speak at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library. Rather than commute the 150 miles to our usual spots We decided to stay in Ventura County. Its a lovely area and not so busy. Farms, oil rigs and uncrowded beaches were very inviting to us. The weather was not bad, upper 60's - mid 70's, however it was windy which made it quite chilly.
The hotel, which is billed a resort is located right on the beach and close to the channel islands harbor. If you love the water and the beach this is a nice spot. The lay out of the hotel is a bit disjointed, so you will have to learn your way around. The pool is large clean and a nice area to relax. there are two large spa's one adjacent to the pool and the second is a bit more private, all in all very nice.
The staff was polite and checking in went well, at least thats what we thought. Shortly after getting into our room, I ran back to the car to get a few more items. When I returned y wife informed me that a couple had been booked into the same room. They came in the keys worked in the door. I know it sounds like a bad sit com, but I swear thats what happened. Fortunately the other couple was great and they went back and got another room.
